Looking for a DJ set dedicated face-melting remixes at Coachella? You’ve found them. LA Riots may be one of the only artists at Coachella where their remix work is far more recognizable than any of their original tracks. Actually, off the top of my head, I can’t name any of their singles.

But they are certainly a nice way to gently ease you into the electronic spirits — and by gently ease, I mean jolted so hard, you’ll get aural whiplash. Their style of electro may be slowly dying, but LA Riots keeps it going strong by doing what they know best: party hard with wobbly interpretations of the best electro house.

by Santigold
album Master of My Make Believe

Artist: Santigold
Genre: Electronic, Hip-hop

MIA and Santigold could technically be interchangeable; yet, there’s a huge difference between the two: pure energy. Santigold brings it — HARD.

While MIA has… well gone MIA in the past year or so, Santigold has continued to stay somewhat in the spotlight over the years. Always finding great ways to utilize electronic music, Santigold’s style is kept fresh. No cobwebs there! And with a new album coming up soon, there’s no reason to skip out on her performance at Coachella. Santigold’s “Go” featuring Karen O should be enough of a reason to check her out. That song continues to blow me away.

Yup. Do I need to say more? His music speaks for itself.

LTTP. I am definitely late to the party. Only discovering them about a year ago, Mazzy Star WAS an indie legend from the early 90s and so forth, until their inevitable break-up. Back together again in the late 90s and ever-so-quiet since, we unfortunately lost track of this gorgeous band.

Until now: Mazzy Star hopes to prove to the world that their enchanting dreamy tunes are still relevant now with their first 2012 appearance at Coachella. And what perfect timing too, as they prepare to release their newest album since 1996.

Genre: Indie Rock, Post-Punk

Honestly, the band’s name along should guarantee a spot in your busy schedule at Coachella. Anything with jetpacks is awesome in my books.

No seriously, jetpacks are awesome. And so is this band. A little dark at times, but they have so much energy that packs a hard punch that will surely send your music senses off the charts. Now, if only they would fly around the stages of Coachella wearing fully-functional jetpacks…
by The Head and The Heart
album The Head and The Heart

Artist: The Head and the Heart
Genre: Indie, Folk Pop

Chill out ya’ll. At Coachella, it’s nice to take a break from all that loud electronic buzz and relish in the tranquility found in folk pop!

And unfortunately, there’s not much of that in this year’s Coachella. So I urge all of you to check out this fine Seattleite band. The second it starts, 84.7% percent of people instantly relax (Source: Me). With a sound that’s vaguely reminiscent of Fleet Foxes inspired Arcade Fire (a worthy comparison), this is a band that is merits your attention on Day 2.

album Feed Me's Big Adventure

Artist: Feed Me

Jon Gooch has been more widely known for his DnB artistry under the name of Spor. But lately, Mr. Gooch has been catching the attention of electro-nuts, as well as the heads at Coachella, for his side-project Feed Me.

And why is he turning heads? Because his stuff is downright dirty. Grimy, hard-hitting, and absolutely a garbage dump of nastiness (I mean this in the best way possible), Feed Me is going to leave feeling completely filthy after his set at Coachella. Just remember to bring some soap too — you’re going to need it.
by Araabmuzik
album Electronic Dream
Artist: Araabmuzik
Genre: Hip Hop, Trance, Electro, Electronic
Myspace Facebook Twitter

Araabmuzik is probably one of the few instrumental hip-hop producers that focuses on sampling from electro and trance. And with how pop music has developed in the past two years (LMFAO, Black Eyed Peas, etc), his rise to stardom is now.

Almost like some odd fusion of electronic music that creates a sort of lighter dubstep — minus the womps and wobs — Araabmuzik should be damn-near accessible to anyone. It’s a sound that is both fresh and somewhat familiar.
And his weapon of choice? The god-like MPC-2500. And if you don’t believe my praise on how talented this guy is, I’ll let this video do the talking.
by Zedd

Artist: Zedd
Genre: Electro House

Funny how the first time I heard of Zedd it was through this mind-numbingly awesome remix of Nintendo’s Zelda theme — shortly after, I had to sit down for a good minute or two to gather myself. Don’t worry, I’ll give you some time to re-assemble your brain.
Ready to move on? Great.
Before I’ve never heard as fine of a videogame remix as Zedd had achieved. But he doesn’t just have a PhD in Remixology; Zedd is a professional face-melter. And he’s sure to stir up a bangin’ crowd on Day 3.

by Keep Shelly in Athens
album Our Own Dream

Artist: Keep Shelly In Athens
Genre: Chillwave, Electronica, Lo-Fi, Downtempo

Always, there are a couple of really hot artists that are on the cusp of popularity — whether it be on the radio or the blogosphere — that squeeze into the epic lineups of Coachella. Keep Shelly In Athens is one of them. For the past few months, I’ve been following them fairly closely and they’ve quickly risen up as my favorite new artists of the past couple of years.
Downtempo may not be for everyone, but the haunting vocals send chills left and right at every beat that it’s worth anyone’s time. Even though they are listed towards the bottom of the Coachella list, we can only hope that they will perform when the sun goes down, propelling their ghastly echoing tunes throughout the midnight sky. Catch them on Day 2 of Coachella.
